What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The short version
You can read this whole site without giving us anything. The only personal information we ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to subscribe. We do not sell it and we do not share it.
Nothing, if you are only reading. Browsing the site does not require an account and does not ask you for any personal information.
Your email address, if you subscribe. We store it so we can send you the material you asked for, along with a note of where on the site you signed up, which tells us which pages people find useful.
Anything you send us. If you email us, we keep the message so we can reply and so we can act on a correction you report.
We do not ask for your name, your employer, your job title, your postal address or any payment details. We do not build an advertising profile of you, and we do not track you from page to page to work out who you are.
An email address is used to send you what you subscribed to, and nothing else. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe that takes effect immediately.
Aggregate information about which pages are read helps us decide what to write next. It is used in aggregate and is not tied back to an individual reader.
Subscriber addresses are held so that the website itself can add an address but cannot read the list back. That is a deliberate arrangement. It means a fault in the website cannot expose the list of people who subscribed.
We keep an address for as long as you remain subscribed. Unsubscribe and we stop using it. Ask us to delete it and we delete it.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
Running a website requires services such as hosting, storage, analytics and email delivery. Those services process information only to do the job we ask of them, under agreements that forbid them using it for anything else.
We use a third party analytics service to count page views and see which pages people read. That is the whole of what we look at, and we use it to decide what to write next rather than to work out who you are. We do not ask it to identify you, and we do not combine what it reports with your email address.
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run third party advertising trackers. Where a small amount of information is stored in your browser it is to make the site work, for example remembering a preference you set, or to let the analytics service recognise a repeat visit as one person rather than two.
Some pages link out. Once you follow a link you are on a site we do not run, covered by its own privacy policy rather than this one. Where a link earns us a commission, that is explained on the disclosures page.
You can ask us at any time to:
Write to support@productdigest.io and we will act on it. We will not ask you to justify the request.
This site is written for people working in product roles and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen.
This policy may be updated as the site changes. If a change affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will say so in the digest rather than quietly replacing the page.
Any question about privacy goes to support@productdigest.io.
