The readability checker reads a draft and scores it out of a hundred. Most drafts are correct and still hard to read, and the checker measures the habits that make them hard to read. It takes a spec, an email, a proposal or a whole article, and the score and a readable version of the text come back in a few seconds.
The score measures how sentences are built and which words are used. It starts at a hundred. The panel beside it lists where points were lost, so a writer knows what to change first. A high score means the text has no mechanical faults.
The readable version is the same text with the mechanical faults fixed. Every change is marked, so the writer can see each one before copying it, and a sentence that needs a writer’s judgement is left as it was. The copy button copies the whole text.
