The Disciplined Agile handbook, now published by PMI, built on the idea that a team should choose its way of working rather than adopt a named method whole. It presents the delivery lifecycle in several flavours covering agile, lean, continuous delivery and exploratory approaches, then breaks the work into process goals such as forming the team, exploring scope and improving quality. For each goal it lays out the decision points and the options available at each one, with the trade offs described so a team can choose deliberately rather than by default. The second edition is shorter than the first and points to the online Disciplined Agile browser for the detail. It is also the reference for the Disciplined Agile certifications.
