Strategic Writing for UX
About this book
Podmajersky treats interface text as a design material with a job to do, and builds a repeatable process for producing it. The book starts from the organisation's goals and the user's goals, derives a voice from the product's principles, and then works through the specific text patterns of an interface such as titles, buttons, empty states, errors and permission requests. There are chapters on editing to a purpose, on measuring whether text is working through usability testing and analytics, and on scaling the practice with style guides and review. The same problems are worked through three fictional products of different sizes, so you see the method at start up and at enterprise scale. Practical rather than theoretical throughout.
