Managing Successful Programmes

The official MSP manual, describing how to run a programme as coordinated projects and change activity aimed at an outcome rather than a deliverable. The fifth edition is organised into principles, themes and processes, with themes covering how a programme is designed, justified, structured and assured, and processes describing the lifecycle from identifying a programme through to closing it. It gives particular attention to the target operating model, to benefits management, and to the gap between an output a project hands over and a benefit the organisation actually realises. The material on programme organisation is useful even outside MSP, because it is precise about who decides what. Read it if your organisation runs a programme office, or if you are preparing for the MSP examinations.
